How to apply Google App Service

More and more people moving from paid service to free service at Google App . You can enjoy the free and large mail box from Google App as long as you own a domain name.

  1. If you do not have a domain name yet, I suggest you to buy one at NameCheap or GoDaddy. They provides you an user-friendly domain control panel, with full control of your domain. In addition, they are large domain registrar and the price is cheap. Each domain name is sold around RM28.00 to RM32.00 only.
  2. Once you have your own domain name, go to: http://www.google.com/a/cpanel/domain/new
  3. Choose "Administrator: I own or control this domain" and enter your domain name to continue.
  4. Fill in your personal information at the next page.
  5. At the third step, you need to create am administrator account of your Google App service.
  6. Completed the information and press the button as below.
  7. Your Google App account is now created. But you still need to verify you are the owner of the domain you registered. Click the "Verify domain ownership" link once you login to your Google App.
  8. Choose the option "Upload an HTML file" if your domain is already hosted to a web hosting.
  9. You will get a verification code. Paste the code inside a text file and save the file as "googlehostedservice.html". Upload the file to your server.
  10. Make sure the file can display correctly. Browse to http://<span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">www.yourdomain.com/googlehostedservice.html (change the words in red color to your own domain name), and see whether the verification code is displayed. If it's displayed, press the "verify" button.
  11. Now, you have to wait while Google verify your domain ownership. I'm waiting for the verification about 2 hours.
